Running a Toy Library successfully relies heavily on Member Volunteers. Please give thoughtful consideration towards your ability and availability to volunteer, as our Opening Days and Times will greatly depend on the number of Hedland Toy Library Members volunteering.

Examples of Volunteering Duties

  • Open Days – Sessions run for 3 hours (8.30-11.30am) and include tasks like setting up toys, helping Members clean returned toys and packing up at the end
  • Advertising - help promote toy library on Facebook, distribute our flyers
  • Stocktake – This is done in one day, once a year and usually takes around 6-8 hours. Tasks include counting toy parts, checking toy functionality and cleaning the toys
  • Events – During the year we try to participate in Community Events. These can be from anywhere between 2-6 hours and include tasks such as helping to set up and pack down, supervising toy and Bouncy Castle use or manning the stall
  • Special Skills – Electrical Testing and Tagging, basic carpentry, painting, sewing, cleaning, face painting, balloon animals, IT savvy, Graphic Design, Photography… if you think you have a skill we can use, no matter how obscure, speak to one of our Committee Members.

We understand when life gets hectic- In your last Trimester of Pregnancy? Just had a new baby? Moved house? Going on holiday? We can make allowances regarding your Rostered Duties in special circumstances, so please talk to a Committee Member if this is the case.
